Re: [HamBrewers] 30 volt 29 amp PS

HI Pat,

This should be a boon to the Furono Amp owners, most of the 24v 30 Amp supplies cost between 8-12 k. The 5 volt supplies are connected in series. It gives us an idea how it is  done.  I have  seen an article on the net where a  ham was using a 600 watt PC (he had connected the 3  5volt outputs in series and had dropped the voltage  13.5 V using a heavy duty diode with was adequately heat sinked.

Fantastic idea. Now how can one manipulate the last smps in series for the 3.8V extra??

Pat

Sandeep. Whats done here is all the 5 v (which usually have atleast 30A op) outputs are connected in series.

Except the bottom most ps all other ps's mains earth pin is left floating. perhaps a small 5 w resistor load is also connected across each 5v / 12v output for kick starting

It good idea to isolate earthing, but not complete information is given there, one needs to short green & black wire otherwise it won't kick start. LOL.
One can also play with TL494 feedback with a variable preset. As to change 12V to 13~
EMI filter is another one!!!!!
