Re: [HamBrewers] Re: 2kw HF linear amplifier made in China

Pramod,

You are right about cheap products from China. China has a long way to go before they will produce real quality products. December QST has review of BAOFENG UV-3R 2m/70cm handheld transceiver and the report shows high spurious emissions 15dB below the fundamental on low power mode. It pushed out a 790uW second harmonic when it was on low power mode pushing out 25mW on 144 MHz. When on high power mode (2W) the second harmonic was 1.25mW or just 32 dB below. They tested two radios and both radios failed FCC spurious emission test on 2m band. QST editors did not consider it fit for publishing this review in the "review" section but put it in the technical correspondence section as a 3/4 page story.

That looks like a  (cheap) copy of the Alpha 8400. Even the alpha amp uses a pair of  the same chinese tubes, these tubes are considered drop in replacements for the expensive Eimac 4cx1000 tubes. Looks like the chinese have come a long way from the lead paint loaded toys and the mosquito bats to almost everything in extreme engineering.
