[HamBrewers] Re: Synchrony

It was interesting indeed. But there is nothing related to the PLL as there is no feedback, whether optical, electrical or mechanical between the entitees. Instead, I guess the whole thing is an open loop process where all the metronomes after a specifc time period get to a fixed rythm which is why all of them appear to be in sync.

On the otherhand if you see the march past of the soldiers during the independence day celebrations in New Delhi every year, you would see the whole troup marching in such perfect sync like a perfect matrix and you will think that is all due to practice. Of course, practice is required in every thing in life, but there is more to it.

Behind the troup leader, in the first row, there is the right most guy called the right guard. He synchronizes to the troup leader's steps and everyone in his row ( first ) will horizontally sync with him. All the coloumns behind every member in the first row will vertically sync with the soldier in front.

If you notice carefully, when passing in front of the VIP every soldier in the marching troup will turn towards the VIP except the right guard who will continue to look straight...otherwise if he goofs up everyone else will too...

This is far more closer to a phase lock situation as there is a reference and an optical feedback and a correction mechanism to resync.... 73s
