There is already news on the rounds that this is a FT-817 killer. KX3 is only hf with addon facility for VHF but 817 is hf-vhf-uhf. Already, many orders of FT-817ND and parts are backlogged according to postings in FT-817. Another news is that Yaesu Amateur division is now split from Motorola and is named Yaesu Musen. Short supply of 817 could be due to this de-merger.
