Dear Paddy and others,
As part of internship program a batch of Aero-space students are doing a course of ASOC in NIAR Hyderabad and they have to do a practical job/work also and hence I was involvedin Conducting a workshop on JOTA RX -40 for all the guies/girls and ......
The usual duration of threedays so that slow / medium students also can finish their kit! From the last Friday afternoon session! Saturday also was a halfday session and 70% of them finished on Saturday itself!
Balance were completed on the thirdday before Lunch! So, that they get ample time to use their RX on air and monitor stations !
And they have monitored in those two days more than twenty countries including Hawaii Islands( I understand Hawaii is close to the Promised Land!, don't know for sure as I still do not have a passport!)
Best regards and thanks for asking!

Well Ganesan, with the advent of cheap Chinese handies available in the 2-3 k bracket, is it worth making a 2 m receiver, which will cost 2k+? A hf rx for 40 or 20m or a cheap DSB trx for 40m will bring in interested home-brewers.

Dear friends and OM, i had seen this group inactive for couple of months.
as interest regarding Ham brewers gone down??????? are everybody busy??????? I wish to make this group a active one ,share the knowledge,do projects as DIY. FIRST OF THE THING LET WE DO A SIMPLE 2METER VHF RECEIVER WITH SPEC AS Specifications of the proposed receiver are: - Mosfet based front end LNA
- 144-146 MHz tuning range
- LCD display of frequency and signal strength
- Rotary encoder for tuning
- Selectable tuning step size (5, 10, 100 kHz and 1 MHz)
- PLL synthesized tuning
- Full microcontroller controlled band scanning capability
- Dual conversion superhetrodyne (10.7 MHz and 455 kHz) with Crystal and Ceramic IF filtering
- Squelch function
- Volume control and audio amplifier / speaker built in.
WITH GREAT EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE VU2ZAP CAN HELP US. LET WE START THE PROJECT????? Ready??? 73,N.Ganesan
